A couple of weeks ago, we welcomed Kristen Plemon and Ileana Rowe of Plemon Communications to DC to kick off a yearlong marketing and public relations project to launch the Learning Lab. I jotted down a couple of goals at the two-day meeting (in which we were also very lucky to have with us Erika Ferrin and Gabe Kosowitz who work in the Smithsonian's internal communications team):
Create an urgent desire to use the Smithsonian for learning.
Elevate the presence of the Smithsonian in education.
Develop a growing user base making creative use of Smithsonian digital assets.
We plan on making the Lab available to the public here at this website (learninglab.si.edu) in late October, but will hold off until the Spring to do a bigger announcement (fireworks, etc.). We will share more of the new messaging being developed for the project and details on how we will officially “launch" the Lab in a later post! Stay tuned.
